In designing the new Yankee Stadium, the baseball team’s owner wanted to create a state-of-the-art facility that would surpass the existing structure while embracing tradition. A top priority was installing concrete walkways, toppings and floors that wouldn’t crack.
Structural engineer Thornton Tomasetti utilized Tuf-Strand SF macro-fibers as an alternative solution to wire mesh reinforcement. This approach provided a reduction in both plastic and drying shrinkage cracking, resulting in a smooth, durable concrete slab with a crack-free appearance.
