Worcester Polytechnic Institute wanted to build a cutting-edge residence hall with modern suites, full kitchens, living areas and project rooms.

Construction contractor Francis Harvey & Sons, Inc. and concrete supplier Aggregate Industries utilized STRUX 90/40, a high-tech synthetic macro fiber, to reinforce the four elevated concrete decks, roof and slab on grade of the residence hall and its adjacent parking garage, totaling 140,000 square feet.

The replacement of welded wire mesh with STRUX 90/40 shaved 18 days off the construction schedule, eliminated a need for extra labor and resulted in fewer cracks due to uniform crack control.
