The City of El Paso sought to construct the Southwest University Park, a 7,500-seat, state-of-the-art ballpark that is home of the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres Baseball Team.
Engineer Walter P. Moore and architect Populous collaborated to design and build the 2,500-cubic-yard facility. Concrete contractor Jordan Foster Construction and Jobe Materials utilized Tuf-Strand SF at a dosage rate of 5 lbs/yd3Â throughout the concrete to reinforce the composite metal decking system that forms the grandstands. This resulted in increased flexural toughness, fatigue endurance and impact resistance.
