The Fiber Reinforced Concrete Association (FRCA) recently conducted a testing program to study the impacts of various consolidation methods on concrete cylinders using FRC. This study was performed to identify the level of impact (if any) using standard specimen casting methods
for plain concrete as detailed in ASTM C31/C31M on fiber reinforced concrete when determining compressive strength properties per ASTM
C39/C39M. The results of the study found that concrete cylinder strength was not negatively impacted by the use of steel, macro or micro fibers when comparing internal (rodding) versus external (vibration) consolidation methods.
