Fiber Reinforced Concrete Association (FRCA) announced today that Dr. Charles Nmai was appointed as the organization’s president. He will replace Michael Mahoney, who has served in that capacity for the past four years. Mahoney will continue to serve on FRCA’s board of directors.
In his new role, Nmai will be responsible for planning, implementing and directing FRCA’s operations and fiscal function, managing strategic partnerships between FRCA member companies and the concrete industry, and governing the board of directors.
“With over 28 years of extensive experience in admixtures, fibers, high-performance concretes, concrete durability and troubleshooting, Charles is perfectly suited for leading the continued success of FRCA,” said Mahoney. “I look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
Nmai is manager of engineering services within the Admixture Systems group at BASF Corporation, where he provides technical leadership and strategic guidance in the marketing of admixtures and high-performance concrete technologies. He also coordinates specification efforts and related activities in industry technical bodies for rapid acceptance of new technologies within the concrete industry. Nmai is an active member of several American Concrete Institute committees, ASTM International, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute and American Society of Civil Engineers. He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Purdue University and is a licensed engineer in Ohio.
